Princeton TMX Partners with MileMaker to Bring Truck-Specific Mileage and Routing Inside the TMS

New integration gives shippers a second distance engine option, powered by Rand McNally's mapping heritage, without leaving the Princeton TMX platform

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — September 3, 2026 — Princeton TMX, the transportation management platform built for industrial shippers, today announced an integration partnership with MileMaker, a Rand McNally company. The partnership embeds MileMaker's Web Services API directly into the Princeton TMX platform, giving customers truck-specific mileage and routing calculations inside the same system they use to plan, tender, track, and audit freight.

Miles are the number almost everything else keys off of. Rate calculation, load building, carrier tendering, accessorial validation, and freight audit all depend on a distance that both shipper and carrier can agree on. With the MileMaker integration, that number is generated inside Princeton TMX, no separate lookup tool, no exported mileage tables, no reconciling two answers after the invoice arrives.

The integration is live and available to Princeton TMX customers today. Customers who already hold a MileMaker license can connect their own credentials; those who don't can be provisioned through Princeton TMX.

"Our customers move steel, lumber, chemicals, food, and packaging; freight where a few miles of variance shows up as real money at the end of the month," said Kevin Meyer, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Princeton TMX. MileMaker's routing data traces back to 1980, when Rand McNally combined its map database with electronic routing and mileage systems; MileMaker became a standalone company in 2022. The platform maintains more than 8.2 million North American road miles across 67 million uniquely attributed road segments, including more than 240,000 vertical clearance restrictions, 550,000 truck weight limits, and 370,000 HAZMAT restrictions, the attributes that separate a truck-legal route from a route that simply looks short on a map.

MileMaker will also join Princeton TMX at NEXT 2026, the company's annual customer conference, as a sponsor, where customers will be able to talk directly with the MileMaker team about routing configuration and rating strategy.
